Distinguished and Famous people from The Great Western Tiers

🏛️ Thomas Reibey

Thomas Reibey was born at Entally House in Hadspen in 1821 and maintained a lifelong connection with the property. He became an Anglican clergyman, supporting the church and rectory at nearby Carrick, before entering colonial politics. A libel case and scandal ended his clerical career, but not his public life: he later served as Tasmania’s premier in 1876–77. Entally and Carrick place his story within the settled country north of the Western Tiers, linking an imposing family home with a decidedly eventful career.
